The most iconic Prosecco aperitivo, aside from a glass on its own, is the Spritz. Spritz coming from the German word 'to spray' or 'to splash' -- dating back to when the Austro-Hungarian empire maintained control of Italy's Veneto region. The soldiers found the wine to be too strong and would spritz the glasses with water -- eventually sparkling water would become the preference. Jumping to current times there are many varieties of Spritz. Here, MARTINI & ROSSI® Prosecco is the "spritz" component along with MARTINI & ROSSI® Fiero Vermouth. The bright, punchy orange flavors and artemisia of Fiero are opened up with crisp carbonation of Prosecco -- giving you the perfect modern day spritz the world has come to adore. Onwards to the village of Prosecco, where sun-cracked foothills are lined with the Glera grape. Ripened in this ideal climate, the Glera reaches our bottle with a stimulating fragrance of fresh apple, pear and honey that makes it the perfect complement to good company and great friends.
